Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees are elected by the congregation and serve as church leadership, part of the Cabinet.

The four Trustees are: Mike Kieler, David Cry, Jeff Shaffer, Jeff Vossekuil and Ray Wahl.

Deacons

The Deacons are elected by the congregation and serve as spiritual leaders and part of the cabinet. They are: John Schneller, Blair Anderson, Vicky Meinholz, Mary Robson, and Bob LeCount.

MISSION STATEMENT: We exist to assist the pastor in the preaching, teaching, and shepherding functions of the church, to encourage the spiritual development of all believers, and to help meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the church and community. The Deacons' goal is to be aware of people and their needs so we can know how to best meet those needs and demonstrate God's care for His children. It is this goal that we keep before us as we minister to the congregation.

A strategic plan was drafted in 2004 following a leader's retreat, and it sets the direction and provides a framework for making the decisions that will be necessary for the church to reach God's full potential for spiritual growth. Many of the core strategies are being met. Through the leadershiop summit meeting on 4/17/04, we re-examined and re-evaluated this plan.

We have been involved in supporting many ministries within SGCC:

  • Food Pantry
  • Quarterly communion and visitation to the sick and elderly
  • Worship committee support
  • Worship service prayer time/Communion service
  • Support for special services: Maundy Thursday; Good Friday
  • Support for new members class/Welcoming pot luck dinner

  • Active management and distribution of the benevolence funds
  • Updated church directory/Overseeing attendance trackingSupport for community outreach projects: Divorce Recovery, Shoe Box Ministry and Super Bowl Party
