Hours
of Distribution
10:30 a.m. to Noon
and
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. every third Monday of
every month.
The food pantry is located in the North
East corner of the Spring Green Community Church.
The
Ministry
Purpose: The Community Food Pantry
is an all-volunteer organization providing food for those
in need who may be experiencing difficult times and to be
a witness to others of the love that God has for all people.
Statistics: In 2004, the Community
Food Pantry served between 40 and 50 families a month, almost
double the number of families there were 2 years ago. In 2003,
the pantry served 1,730 people from 126 different families,
almost 40% being 12 years old and under. It distributed between
25-30,000 pounds of food at a cost of $9,500.
Certain food items listed on a sheet of
paper will be handed out to people being given food so they
can cross out what they may not want, with the intent to steamline
the distribution of food that is needed.
Between 15 and 20 people help out at the
pantry on a regular basis, not to mention the organizations
who hold food drives, businesses and individuals who make
contributions of food and money that keep the food pantry
a vibrant ministry of the Spring Green Community Church and
its many friends in the Spring Green and surrounding communities.
Future: If economic conditions continue
to worsen, it is certain that the Community Food Pantry will
continue to be a life line for more and more people.
History: The Community Food Pantry
was started by Barb Klebesadel as a way to minister to people
in the community through the church.
Food and supplies are also purchased from
Second
Harvest and other local food retailers.

ye therefore the stranger."
